Memorial Biography

Lola M Hall Phillips was born May 29,1928 in Homer,Loisiana to Ed and Ellena Hall. Lola was one of 8 children. She accepted christ at an early age and was baptized at White Oak Grove Baptist Church under pastor J.H Dickson. Lola attended grade and high school at Homer Colored High,where her favorite sport was basketball. Later ahe attended Houston Community College where she completed hours in criminal justice and recieved a liscense in cosmetology. As time went on,Lola was united in holy matrimony to Leon Phillips. They moved to Texas in 1949 where the couple started their life as husband and wife. To this union six children were born;four girls and two boys. Their names are Lee Otis,Lorretta,Linda,Doris,Ellena and David Phillips. Lola worked in food service for Houston Independent School District,Baylor College of Medicine and the City of Houston transportation department.She was a faithful employee and she loved working with people. Lola Hall Phillips was preceded in death by her mother and father,Ellena and Ed Hall;seven sisters and brothers,Lula Hensen,Dawson Hall,Lavance Hall,Eddie Hall,Lavonia Hall,Lela Rodgers,Marzetta Shelton and her oldest son Lee Otis Phillips. Lola Mae Hall Phillips leaves to cherish her memories through her children:her son David Charles Phillips;daughters Loretta Small,Linda F Alfred,Doris Mason and Ellena Murphy all born in Hoouston,Tx. Lola "Madea" Hall Phillips has 20 grandchildren,55 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren and a host of neices,nephews,cousins and friends. Our beloved Madea was the glue to this family it didn't matter if things was good or bad within the family,the gatherings continued to go on,and everyone knew exactly where to go"no invite needed".That's who Madea was "everyone was invited";rather you were family or friends,everyone knew her door was always open to come by and chat a bit or to just sit and have a meal with her,no invitation needed.Our mom and grandma has left our family with many wonderful memeories that will forever be with us all. She has touched each and everyone of us in her own way. Madea will always and forever be in our hearts.Please do share some of those memories with your children,family and friends.
